My Life ~ 13 months ~ the Lake District again!

Saturday 9th July ~ Friday 15th July 2005

Monday 10th ~ Kidsty Pike and High Street

(in 32+ degrees heat!)

High Street from Kidsty Pike. (Kim)

The Roman Road follows the ridge from Penrith to Windermere.

Stalking a 'swaddle' (Swaledale) lamb on the Roman Road over High Street

Aunty Becky above Hayeswater

Helvellyn and Striding Edge at far left: the obvious pointy one is Catseyecam, then Raise, Stybarrow Dodd and Great Dodd; Blencathra centre, far distance; the outline prow of Sharp Edge clearly discernible; Souther Fell and Carrock Fell to the right of  that. In the centre middle ground is Sheffield Pike with Glenridding in the valley below (the faint white streak is the road to Greenside Mine) ~ Place Fell is opposite it, centre right, (with the obvious bump on its top); Ullswater lies below and beyond. The closer, larger bump is Angletarn Crags, hidden below which lies Angle Tarn. The prominent fell at left, in shadow, is Hartsop Dodd (the road to Kirkstone Pass lies on its far side).

Another peak bagged.

This flat top is also known as 'Racecourse Hill'.  In the past locals held an Easter race meeting here.

the triple topped ridge of Yoke, Ill Bell & Froswick  ~ Windermere  ~  the path leading to Thornthwaite Beacon

Leaving High Street top for the Nan Bield Pass.

The Kentmere valley beyond ~ Kendal somewhere in the far distance.

Where are they?

Almost down from the Nan Bield Pass. The drowned village of Mardale lies beneath Haweswater.
